EsVata Window Coverings

Custom Zebra Shades

A zebra shade — also sold as a banded, layered or dual shade — is a loop of fabric striped with sheer and solid bands. Roll it so the solid bands line up and the window is covered; roll it a little further and the sheer bands align for a soft, open view.

That one adjustment is why people choose them for living and dining rooms: daylight and a view when you want them, privacy when you do not. Chain, cordless or motorized, under a 3-inch, 4-inch or curved cassette or an open rail.

  • Alternating sheer and solid bands — view, glow, or privacy in one shade
  • Chain, cordless, motor, or heavy-duty motor
  • Square, curved, or 4″ cassette, or open rail
  • Made to order in about 3 weeks; free shipping

Common questions

Are zebra shades private at night?
With the solid bands aligned, yes — about as private as a light-filtering roller shade. With the sheer bands open, silhouettes show after dark, the same as any sheer. Pair with drapery if you need full blackout.
Zebra shade or roller shade?
A roller shade is simpler and comes in true room-darkening fabrics; a zebra shade trades that for an adjustable view. Our roller vs zebra guide compares them room by room.
