Custom Basswood Plantation Shutters
Plantation shutters are built as framed wood panels that mount to the window and stay — a permanent fixture that adds to the room. Tilt the louvers for light and privacy, or swing a panel open to clear the glass.
Ours are solid basswood in a 301 White finish, with 3.5-inch or 4.5-inch louvers and a hidden or front tilt rod. Z-frames, L-frames and a deco frame; four-sided or three-sided configurations; bypass and bi-fold panels for sliding doors; and specialty shapes such as arches and sunbursts.

Guides for this category
- How to measure for blinds and shades
A steel tape, three measurements per dimension, and the nearest eighth of an inch — that is all it takes.
- Inside mount vs outside mount
The mount decides how you measure, how the product looks, and how much light leaks around it.
- Faux wood blinds vs wood blinds
Faux wood for kitchens, baths and durability; real wood for warmth and weight — and what we actually make.
- How to install our blinds and shades
A level, a drill and about fifteen minutes per window.
Common questions
- Which frame should I choose?
- A Z-frame wraps the edge of the opening and hides out-of-square trim — the usual inside-mount choice. An L-frame sits flat inside the opening for a minimal look, or mounts on the wall for an outside mount. The deco frame is a wider, decorative outside-mount frame.
- How many panels do I need?
- Panels are usually 12 to 36 inches wide, so a 60-inch window takes two or three. The configurator lets you pick the panel count and how they are hinged (L, R, LR and so on).
